Effective Humanism is the New Movement for the New Internet

Effective Humanism inspires movements that balance tech and humanity, uses evidence and ethics, helps you reconnect with yourself, and democratizes the full power of the Internet. Join us! πŸ™Œ

What if there was a way to combine the best of both worlds: the power of technology and the dignity of humanity? What if there was a movement that aimed to help people reach their full potential and make the world a better place, while also embracing the opportunities and challenges of the digital age? What if there was a path that was not a path, but a flexible and adaptable approach that met people where they are and leveraged every available advantage to uplift them?

That is the vision of Effective Humanism, a new movement that takes inspiration from both Effective Altruism and Effective Accelerationism, but creates a better hybrid model that pushes technological advancement forward, but also keeps it grounded to human beings being empowered.

Effective Altruism is a philosophical and social movement that advocates using evidence and reason to benefit others as much as possible. It covers various causes such as global health, social inequality, animal welfare, and existential risk. Effective Accelerationism is a belief, rooted in the second law of thermodynamics, that the universe itself is an optimization process creating life which constantly expands. The engine of this expansion is technocapital. This engine cannot be stopped. The ratchet of progress only ever turns in one direction.

Effective Humanism recognizes the merits and limitations of both movements, and seeks to find a balance between them. It acknowledges the potential benefits and risks of technology, and strives to use it wisely and responsibly. It also values human factors and ethics, and aims to promote human well-being and dignity. It tracks its impact and progress using the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, which are widely used frameworks for measuring sustainability and social impact.

Effective Humanism is not a rigid or dogmatic ideology, but a pragmatic and compassionate philosophy. It is open to new ideas and perspectives, and welcomes diversity and collaboration. It is not a top-down or centralized movement, but a bottom-up and decentralized one. It is not a passive or reactive movement, but an active and proactive one. It is not a pessimistic or optimistic movement, but a realistic and hopeful one.

Effective Humanism is a movement for the new internet, where peer-to-peer value co-creation is the norm, where the human spirit is expressed and celebrated. An example of a platform inspired by effective humanism is FairShare.
